| Taxes : twice the taxes twice the headaches |
The tax year follows the calendar year. Filing is due around the end of April. The government sends you a stack of papers and a book about 40 pages thick, you will need a calculator, pen, and 100 paper T4/T5 slips that have been paper mailed to you over the last year, 20 of which were lost in the mail, another 20 which you've lost. The tax filing also doubles as a yearly standardised math test for all Canadians. Cheating is not allowed, do not copy from the person beside you.

The tax year is from July to June... Filing is due around the end of Octobre. The government pretty much does your taxes for you, it's all electronic, you click "yes" and it's done. The government goes out and collects all the numbers, enters them, and calculates everything. Seriously, it's good, but... It only works on Windows though... Apparently Linux and Mac users don't have to files taxes. *shrugs*
